A pickup driver in Malé has been fined and had his driving license suspended for failing to give way to an ambulance. According to the Maldives Police Service, the driver was summoned and penalised for the traffic violation. Specifically, the individual was fined MVR 750, and his license was seized as part of the enforcement action.
A video circulating on social media shows the pickup truck stationary, causing a significant traffic obstruction that prevented the ambulance and other vehicles from proceeding. Despite the ambulance sounding its siren while positioned directly behind the pickup, the driver refused to move, as he was reportedly occupied with unloading goods.
