
The Maldives has recorded more than 400,000 tourist arrivals since the beginning of this year, marking a 9.5% increase compared to the same period last year. According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 418,034 tourists visited the country as of the 21st of this month. During the corresponding period in the previous year, arrivals stood at 381,870. To date, China remains the leading source market for tourist arrivals to the Maldives.

Regarding accommodation preferences, the majority of visitors opted for resorts, with 283,272 tourists staying in these facilities. Guesthouses followed as the second most popular choice, hosting 111,390 tourists. Ministry data further indicates that the Maldives currently sees an average of over 8,000 arrivals per day. In terms of travel modes, 416,969 tourists arrived by air, while 1,065 visitors entered the country via sea routes.
