Maldives State Shipping (MPL) has commenced the provision of water and electricity services to vessels that have resumed docking at the Male’ Local Market area. These vessels, which were previously relocated to alternative areas to facilitate the redevelopment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu, have now returned to their original berths. Following the introduction of new berths in Zone A of the North Harbour, the process of relocating vessels to Zone B is scheduled to begin within the coming week.

The market segment of Boduthakurufaanu Magu has been significantly widened and paved with asphalt, and is now open for two-way traffic. Furthermore, the road development project extending from the Official Jetty to the Henveiru Ferry Terminal is slated to commence during the month of Ramadan. The government anticipates that upon the project’s overall completion in May, the prevailing congestion on the northern side of Male’ will be considerably reduced, providing significant ease for cargo logistics and general transportation.
