The modernization and reopening of the Malé North Harbor area have significantly alleviated the longstanding congestion issues in the capital’s commercial hub. This redevelopment project included the reconstruction of a 260-meter quay wall and the widening of the adjacent road to six meters, featuring a dedicated lane specifically designed for efficient cargo loading and unloading.

Furthermore, the project has enhanced pedestrian accessibility by widening the pavements. To further support maritime operations, specialized utility hubs are currently being established to provide essential water and electricity services to docked vessels. These strategic improvements have effectively mitigated the traffic congestion and logistical challenges typically experienced in the bazaar area, particularly during the busy month of Ramadan.
