As part of the government’s ongoing efforts to expand and enhance the services at Velana International Airport, the domestic operations have been relocated to the former international terminal, marking a significant advancement in service quality. Under the direct guidance of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, this transition was successfully completed within just 15 days, resulting in a substantial increase in the number of check-in counters, departure gates, and baggage carousels. Furthermore, passenger amenities have been significantly improved, including expanded commercial spaces, dedicated prayer areas, and children’s play zones. This project represents a vital step toward strengthening the nation’s economy and elevating the standards of the country’s primary gateway, which serves millions of tourists annually.
