The Bar Council of the Maldives has officially granted lawyer permits to 39 individuals, marking the first batch of lawyers to be licensed this year. Since the inception of the Bar Council in 2019, a total of 550 lawyers have been sworn in, strengthening the country’s legal profession and expanding access to justice.

The ceremony was graced by Supreme Court Judge Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, who attended as the chief guest. The newly licensed lawyers were formally sworn in by High Court Judge Al-Usthaza Fathimath Farheeza, underscoring the judiciary’s role in upholding professional standards and integrity within the legal community.
This milestone reflects the continued growth of the Maldivian legal sector, with the Bar Council playing a pivotal role in regulating and supporting the profession.
