Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, has indicated that Tehran is prepared to consider concessions regarding certain aspects of its nuclear program to reach an agreement with the United States and secure the swift lifting of economic sanctions. As renewed discussions between the two nations progress, Iran has expressed its willingness to modify its nuclear activities in exchange for sanctions relief. However, the Iranian government maintains a firm stance that its ballistic missile program is not subject to negotiation and will remain outside the scope of these discussions.

In an interview with the BBC, Ravanchi noted that following talks held in Oman earlier this month, a new round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in Geneva next Tuesday. While the initial discussions were described as positive, he cautioned that it remains premature to predict significant breakthroughs. According to reports from Reuters, citing various sources, the Geneva meeting will be attended by U.S. Middle East envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, with Oman continuing to facilitate the process as a mediator.

Furthermore, Iran’s nuclear chief has signaled a potential readiness to dispose of a portion of its currently enriched uranium stockpiles in return for the removal of U.S. sanctions. Nevertheless, Ravanchi emphasized that Iran will not agree to a total cessation of uranium enrichment. While Iran continues to assert that its enrichment activities and nuclear program are strictly for peaceful, civilian purposes, the United States has consistently maintained its skepticism regarding these claims.
