Minister of Housing, Land, and Urban Development Dr. Ali Haidar Ahmed has announced that more than 3,600 applications have been submitted so far under the government’s “Housing for All” policy. Highlighting a significantly higher demand for flats compared to land plots, the Minister noted that approximately 10,000 additional applications are currently in the process of being completed. This housing scheme specifically prioritizes individuals and families who do not currently own any form of housing.

Under this initiative, the government plans to allocate 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats across the Greater Malé Area, including Ras Malé. The scheme includes designated categories for both registered residents of Malé and individuals from other islands residing in the capital. The deadline for land plot applications is set for March 4, while the deadline for flat applications has been extended to April 17. Additionally, individuals who were previously allocated smaller flats under earlier schemes now have the opportunity to apply for three-bedroom apartments, contingent upon their family size.
