The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has commenced penalizing individuals who dispose of waste in the common areas of the housing units in Hulhumalé Phase II, in violation of established regulations. This enforcement action follows an increase in public complaints and rising concerns over potential public health risks caused by the accumulation of waste.
FDC has already taken action against several individuals for non-compliance. The corporation emphasized that waste must be disposed of exclusively in the designated garbage rooms located on the ground floor. Furthermore, it is the responsibility of the tenants to manage and dispose of large items, such as cardboard boxes and packaging materials, resulting from their relocation to the units.
To date, 460 tonnes of waste have been cleared from 13 towers. Efforts are currently underway, in collaboration with WAMCO, to clean all 32 towers. FDC urges all residents to cooperate in maintaining a clean and healthy living environment.
