During an official visit to Malaysia, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, where both leaders agreed to further strengthen the trade relations between the two nations.

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s first trip to Malaysia since the establishment of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in August 2024, which was aimed at elevating bilateral ties.

In their discussions, the two leaders agreed to explore enhanced cooperation across various sectors, including semiconductors and defense. Prime Minister Anwar stated that under the established partnership, both countries intend to collaborate in trade and investment, food security, healthcare, and tourism.

Speaking to the press, Anwar described the partnership as a truly comprehensive one, covering a wide range of sectors. He expressed confidence that both nations are committed to advancing this relationship and ensuring the swift implementation of agreed initiatives, noting that both governments are fully prepared to proceed with these efforts.
