The Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, Dr. Abdulla Muththalib, has assured that the housing projects initiated by the current administration will be completed and handed over to the public within this ongoing term. The Minister noted that while no government since 2008 has been able to complete and deliver its own housing projects within a single term, this administration is committed to breaking that cycle.
Under the government’s “Family Housing” scheme, applications have now been opened for 15,000 land plots and 7,900 flats. The Minister emphasized that these projects are being funded through international assistance and allocated budgetary resources. He further stated that the demarcation of land plots and the handover of ownership registries will be concluded during this term. As large-scale land reclamation projects progress in the Greater Male’ Region, the government’s primary objective remains to provide permanent housing solutions, with a priority on families currently without any housing security.
