The Department of National Registration (DNR) has signed an agreement with Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) to share information from the national registry. The agreement was officially signed this Tuesday. The primary objective of this partnership is to enable the bank to verify customer information through the DNR’s Application Programming Interface (API). According to the DNR, this verification process will streamline bank services, making them more efficient and secure for the public.

While this information-sharing agreement has been established, Maldives Islamic Bank has already integrated its services with the “eFaas” portal, allowing customers to access banking services online. The bank’s systems are currently designed to facilitate various services, including account opening, through digital platforms. The DNR further noted that a similar information-sharing agreement was also established with the Bank of Maldives in 2024.
