The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has stated that it is yet to make a final decision regarding its participation in the Diamond Jubilee Invitational Football Tournament, scheduled to be held in the Maldives mid-year. The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) extended the invitation to the Bangladesh national team to compete alongside Sri Lanka and Nepal in the tournament organized to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Maldivian football. Among the invitees, Sri Lanka has already confirmed its participation.

A senior official from the BFF informed the local media that the decision to compete in the Maldives tournament rests with the federation’s President and the Chairman of the National Team Committee, Tabith Awal. The official further noted that if the SAFF Championship—South Asia’s premier football competition—is scheduled for September or October, it is highly likely that Bangladesh will send its team to the Maldives as part of their preparations. Notably, Bangladesh is the nation currently requested by SAFF to host this year’s championship.
