Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has stated that due to the robust foreign policy of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s administration, the Maldives’ prestige has risen on the international stage, transforming it into a nation with a more influential voice. He elaborated that the core principle of this policy is to prioritize the interests of the Maldives and its people, and that close relations will be maintained with any party that offers beneficial assistance to the country. The Minister also noted that the “Maldives First Policy” is a policy that is acknowledged and accepted by foreign nations.

Under this policy, relations with foreign countries have been strengthened to an unprecedented level, with strategic ties established with India, China, Arab nations, and other countries from distant regions. The Minister highlighted that the Maldives holding the positions of Vice President of the UN General Assembly and Vice President of the UN Human Rights Council demonstrates the strength of the country’s foreign policy.

Through the high-level state visits undertaken by President Muizzu abroad and the visits of foreign leaders to the Maldives, significant progress has been made in securing essential assistance for the nation and stabilizing the economy. Furthermore, the work carried out by the Maldives on the international stage in support of Palestinian rights has been met with global acclaim, proving to the world that the Maldives is a nation that loves justice and fairness, and champions human rights.
