Mahmood Riyaz has been reinstated to his position after being dismissed as Deputy Commissioner of Customs. He was removed from his post on the 29th of last month. His dismissal was related to cases investigated by the Parliament’s National Security Services Committee involving cigarette cartons illegally imported and irregularly released from a bonded warehouse.

However, after further investigation, the Committee concluded that Mahmood Riyaz had no direct involvement in these cases. The Committee subsequently recommended to the President that he be reinstated to his position.

Presidential Spokesperson Heena Waleed stated that Mahmood Riyaz has been reinstated following the Committee’s additional investigation, which found no evidence of his involvement in the case. The Committee had recommended his reinstatement to the President, who accepted the recommendation.

Following the Committee’s investigation, Deputy Commissioner Abdullah Commissioner Abdullah Waheed was also dismissed from his position. However, the Committee did not recommend his reinstatement to the President.
