FIFA to Hold a Special Tournament for ASEAN Region

The world’s main football governing body, FIFA, has decided to organize a tournament specifically for the ASEAN region called the FIFA ASEAN Cup. During the 47th ASEAN Summit held in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, FIFA President Gianni Infantino signed an agreement with the Association of South Asian Football (ASEAN). According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, all ASEAN member countries will be able to compete in this tournament. The tournament will follow the same format as the Arab Cup organized by FIFA in 2021.

Infantino also stated that thed that the date and format of the tournament, which will include the 11 ASEAN member countries and be conducted in collaboration with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), will be finalized and announced very soon. “This tournament will be a significant advancement not only for ASEAN countries but also for Asian football as a whole. It will also be a great opportunity to take players from this region to the next level,” Infantino said.
