President and FIFA President to Participate in Football Match Today

The President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, will play a football match with the President of the Maldives, Dr. Mohame. Mohamed Muizzu, as part of the special activities organized during his visit to Male’ on Friday. This visit is at the invitation of Ahmed Thoriq, President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

The match will take place between 4 PM and 6 PM at the National Football Stadium as part of the special events. Young players from academies and clubs in the Maldives are also scheduled to showcase their football skills during this event. This marks Gianni Infantino’s first visit to the Maldives as FIFA President. During this visit, the President will meet with Infantino to discuss important areas related to the development of football in the Maldives, and both will participate in the activities at the National Football Stadium. FIFA President’s trip will serve as additional encouragement for FAM’s efforts to revitalize and advance football in the Maldives. It will also boost efforts to reinvigorate Maldivian football, strengthen FAM’s administration, improve the financial system of clubs, restore players’ rights, and retain skilled players in the sport.


During this visit, Infantino will also meet with the heads of Maldivian clubs. He will learn about the state of Maldivian football, available resources, and other related matters. The football match between President Dr. Muizzu and Infantino is scheduled to be broadcast live on PSM.


FAM’s President has invited football enthusiasts to the events at Galolhu Stadium this evening. This day will be a joyous occasion for the Maldivian football family. The recent visit of such a high-ranking football official to the Maldives will breathe new life into Maldivian football and provide additional strength and encouragement to achieve the goals set by FAM and the government for the football sector with FIFA’s assistance.
