President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that there is no system for night-time play at the Sh. Kanditheemu football field, and that he will bring further improvements to the field. The President said this during a speech he gave while meeting with the people of Kanditheemu as part of his ongoing trip to Sh. Atoll. The President said that as a project to be carried out within next year’s budget, a major project will be undertaken to develop the Kanditheemu football field to modern standards. The President said that currently all fields are being built with fencing, boundary walls, lights, and changing rooms included.
“Next year, as a project to be carried out within the budget, we will proceed with a project to modernize the football field to include all these things I mentioned, in order to develop this island’s field,” the President said. “God willing, it will proceed in that manner.” The President said that modern developments will also be brought to Kanditheemu’s football field. During his trip to Kanditheemu, the President has laid the foundation for the island’s Fitness and Recreation Center.
