Saleh Al-Ja’farawi, a Palestinian journalist, has been martyred. Saleh, who was 27 years old, was martyred while a ceasefire agreement, intended to end the aggressive attacks launched by Israelis on Gaza since October 7, 2023, was being implemented. It is understood that he was martyred by armed individuals linked to Israelis operating in Gaza. Sources indicate that Saleh was abducted by a group of people in the early hours of October 12, and subsequently shot. He sustained seven bullet wounds to his body.
Saleh was a young man beloved by the public, who consistently brought news from Gaza through social media since the beginning of the war. He made great efforts to convey the news and stories of Gaza to the world. Due to his work, Israelis had been issuing various threats, ridiculing, and harassing him over the past two years. However, from the very beginning, Saleh continued to work for his religion and the rights of his homeland with unwavering courage, enthusiasm, and zeal.
Over the past two years, the world has seen various videos of Saleh, and he was known as a caring, humble, and exceptionally kind-hearted individual. He was also known for his love of the Holy Quran. He would recite the Quran with beautiful melodies, and even during the war, he continued to share these recitations through videos, thereby encouraging the people of Gaza. He also recited religious songs (madhahas) related to Gaza and the war. He never hesitated to show his emotions during the war, conveying the true situation of Gaza even with tears streaming down his face. During the war, he made special efforts to play, laugh, and bring joy to infants and children with various injuries.
Saleh was a journalist who remained at Al-Shifa Hospital until the very last moment, even after Israelis ordered its evacuation during the war. He was among the last people to leave the hospital. Among his most notable recent videos is one showing him walking through the streets of Gaza at night with other journalists, announcing the signing of the agreement to halt the aggression. In a video released before his martyrdom, he put his press jacket on a child and encouraged the children of Gaza to continue the work, stating that even if adults die, the children are there to carry on with that mission.
In his will, Saleh stated that his death should not be seen as an end. He called upon everyone to persist in delivering the message he wished to convey to the entire world. He also stated that martyrdom in the path of Allah was a dream of his, and he asked people not to grieve his death.
