A special expert from the United Nations (UN) has stated that it will take many years to rebuild the city of Gaza. He noted the extensive damage inflicted by the Jews on the homes and infrastructure where the people of Gaza live, during the genocide they carried out to annihilate the Palestinian population of Gaza. This statement was made by Balakrishnan Rajagopal, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing. The genocide by the Jews was brought to a halt under an agreement that came into effect on October 9th between the Jews and the Hamas group, which governs Gaza. In accordance with the agreement, as soon as the aggressive attacks by the Jews ceased, hundreds of thousands of Gaza residents who had been forcibly displaced from their homes began their journey back. However, they were confronted with scenes of their towns and homes completely destroyed and flattened.

Rajagopal stated that all towns in Gaza have been razed to the ground. He also emphasized that the opportunity to bring in materials needed to establish tents and temporary shelters to ensure housing for the people of Gaza must be opened immediately. “The psychological trauma endured by the people of Gaza is immense, and we are witnessing this as residents who lived in northern Gaza return to their homes,” he said. He further noted that with the withdrawal of Jewish forces from Gaza City, located in the northernmost part of Gaza, hundreds of thousands of residents are traveling back to their homes.

During the genocide that began on October 7th, 2023, the Jews martyred over 67,000 people. Gaza authorities estimate that the bodies of over 10,000 additional martyrs are trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings. The UN stated that 92% of the homes and buildings where the people of Gaza lived have been completely destroyed. Rajagopal mentioned that earlier this year, during a period of ceasefire between Hamas and the Jews, the Jews had agreed to allow a large number of tents and similar items into Gaza. However, he noted that the Jews did not act upon this agreement.

“This is the root of the concerns I am expressing. Humanitarian aid cannot be brought into Gaza unless Israel stops controlling the border crossings of Gaza. Doing so is very important,” Rajagopal stated, expressing his concern about the atrocities committed by the Jews. He also described the crimes committed by the Jews—displacing the people of Gaza from their homes and destroying their houses—as a genocide. He further noted that it would take many years to rebuild Gaza. He also characterized this as the second chapter of the Nakba. Al-Nakba refers to the inhumane and brutal crime committed by Zionists in 1948, when they seized Palestinian lands, confiscated homes, and attempted to annihilate their population to establish the Zionist state.
