President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he will upgrade the Dhigurah Health Center to a 24-hour service and establish a convention center to help expand local tourism. He said this while speaking at a meeting with the people of Dhigurah. Speaking at this meeting, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that the road construction project and the new school building being implemented by the government in Dhigurah are two very necessary projects for the development and progress of the island. The President noted that it is especially important to build roads to a good standard on such an island where local tourism is extensively operated. Therefore, he said that he will build the island’s roads to the standard desired by the people.
“I assure the people that both these projects will be carried out as the people most desire,” the President said. The President said that by including it in next year’s budget, he will establish an accommodation block needed for employees from outside the island who serve in various institutions. He also noted that this is a project that will be implemented through the government’s New Policy Initiative. Referring to the sports sector, the President said that he will develop a football ground in Dhigurah next year and that project will be included in the budget.
Likewise, to help further expand the tourism sector, the President said that he will establish a convention center in Dhigurah by including it in next year’s budget. He also said that a dollar ATM will be installed in Dhigurah early next year. The President said that such projects are important for increasing the prosperity of the people and the development of the island. In addition, he said that he will change the health center service to 24 hours and expedite the mosque construction work to complete it.
The President said that to solve the housing shortage of the island, the Land Use Plan will be amended to allow the distribution of at least 50 plots, providing the necessary assistance, and the relevant government agencies will work to carry out the land distribution process as fairly as possible. “The government will provide all the cooperation needed to solve the land issue of this island,” the President said. The President said that the most important purpose of his trips to the islands is to understand the needs of the people when implementing development projects and to shape such projects accordingly.
At this meeting, agreements were signed to hand over the project of developing Dhigurah roads to modern standards and constructing the new building of Dhigurah School to the Road Development Corporation (RDC). Also, a special commemorative plaque was presented to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on behalf of the people of Dhigurah.
