The United States has announced that it will revoke the visa of Colombian President Gustavo Petro after he participated in a protest in America calling for Palestinian rights and urged disobedience against US President Donald Trump. During the demonstration held outside the UN headquarters in Manhattan, Petro called for the formation of an armed international legion to liberate Palestine from Jewish control. He stated that this legion should be larger than the US military. Consequently, he urged all US military personnel to disobey Trump’s orders and instead follow the orders of humanity, rather than pointing guns at others.
In response to these statements, the US government said it had decided to cancel Petro’s visa due to his irresponsible actions and attempts to inflame the situation. Even during his speech at the UN General Assembly’s annual meeting, Petro criticized Trump. He claimed that Trump was complicit in the genocide being carried out by Jews in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, more than 65,000 people have been martyred in the aggressive attacks by Jews on Gaza.
As buildings in the city are being destroyed and leveled, Jews are also severely restricting the entry of food and aid supplies into Gaza. As a result, Gaza’s population has become hungry and weakened. The number of people dying from hunger in Gaza is increasing day by day. In this situation, the number of people raising their voices for Palestinian rights in various parts of the world is growing daily. The number of Western countries recognizing Palestinian independence is also increasing. Consequently, Jews are becoming increasingly isolated in the international arena. In the past week, close US allies such as France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada have also recognized Palestinian independence. In recent days, the United States has been taking action against those advocating for Palestinian rights.
