A cyber attack targeting check-in and boarding systems at airports has disrupted air travel, delaying flights scheduled to depart from many UK airports. The attack on software used for airport services has interrupted some services at numerous airports. Among the airports affected by the cyber attack is London’s Heathrow Airport.

Due to the cyber attack, 29 flights have been cancelled so far at Heathrow, Berlin, and Brussels airports. Collins Aerospace, which provides check-in and boarding system services at many airports worldwide, said that Heathrow Airport, the UK’s largest and one of the world’s busiest airports, has encountered a technical issue causing flight delays. Collins Aerospace stated that they are working to resolve the problem.

Collins Aerospace, an American military company, is a subsidiary of RTX Corporation, a weapons manufacturer. The company said they are aware of service disruptions related to a cyber attack, and while computer-based check-in and boarding may not be possible at the moment, alternative check-in arrangements can be made for the time being.
