Coach Ruben Amorim has stated that he will not make any changes to the system he wants Manchester United to play. He said this when journalists asked if he might lose his job after a significant defeat to rival Manchester City. “I won’t change my principles. If I need to change the system, I will do it. But if the club wants to change it, they can. If they want to do that, they’ll have to fire me,” Amorim said.

Since Amorim took over as Manchester United’s coach, the team has lost 16 out of 31 matches played so far. In connection with this, some former United legends have also criticized him. Former captain and forward Wayne Rooney said United won’t progress with Amorim. However, English newspapers report that United doesn’t want to dismiss him from his position. Many media outlets state that the club’s management is not considering hastily removing the coach so early in the season. Amorim said that in football, not everything is about results. He added that sometimes poor results occur due to many reasons, and many people can’t even imagine what United has endured over the past year or so.

“Only the results will be visible. The supporters won’t be happy about that either. I think United supporters need to be patient. I’m not going to lie to the supporters. As long as I’m at this club, I’ll work in the way that’s best for the club,” the coach said. United’s next match is against Chelsea, the Club World Cup champions. Amorim said he’s working to improve results and will do what’s necessary without considering personal preferences.
