Following the resignation of Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Oli Sharma, armed forces have taken to the streets to maintain order in the country. After protests intensified due to the ban on some social media platforms in Nepal, the government later revoked that decision. Police have used tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse the protests. In the unrest, 25 people have died and 633 have been injured. To curb the turmoil in the country, the Nepalese government has also declared a curfew. However, as protesters continued their gatherings despite the curfew, Prime Minister Oli was forced to resign.

Media reports suggest that preparations are underway for discussions between protest participants and military leaders. The protests mainly involve young people. Protesters want the country’s former Chief Justice, Sushila Karki, to be appointed as the interim Prime Minister. They will present this proposal in their discussions with military leaders.

The Nepalese military stated that they are working to resolve the crisis facing the country. Military spokesperson Raja Ram Basnath said that the first priority is to return the country to normalcy. He also said that the military will focus on protecting people’s lives and property. The military stated that the curfew imposed in Nepal will be maintained until the morning of September 11th.
