“God willing, this will solve problems for many years to come. Additionally, the former building assigned to MNDF, along with the newly constructed MNDF building, will be permanently relocated. Consequently, the old building currently given to MNDF will be vacated and repurposed for educational use, specifically for higher education. I assure you of this,” said the President.

Furthermore, the President stated that upon completion of the 30-bed hospital being developed in Hanimaadhoo, the island’s healthcare services will be strengthened. He added that efforts are underway to expand the services of the existing health center even before the hospital’s completion. Addressing the housing issue in Hanimaadhoo, the President stated that building 500 housing units on the island is a presidential pledge, and this project will be initiated in collaboration with HDC at the beginning of next month. “The project will be carried out in two parts. One part involves constructing housing units in a specific area. The other part is a project to build housing units on your own plots. Many of your plots are still without houses. So, we will build 3-bedroom apartments on those plots,” said the President. He added that there will be three projects in Hanimaadhoo: the 500 housing units for Hanimaadhoo residents, the relocation project for Hirimaradhoo residents, and the project that was halted due to a court ruling.

The President emphasized that this is a project that will bring significant progress to both the people of Hanimaadhoo and those migrating to the island. He also stressed the need to establish urban infrastructure in Hanimaadhoo. While some roads in Hanimaadhoo have already been paved, the President stated that more road construction is necessary. He announced that road construction will be carried out over the next two years. Approximately 17 kilometers of roads will be developed to modern standards, with the entire project scheduled for completion by 2027.
