President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the relocation of HDh. Finey School will be included in next year’s budget, as requested by the island’s residents. He made this statement during a meeting with the people of HDh. Finey.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, while meeting with the people of Finey, said that he came to the island to consult with the residents about Finey’s development and progress, and to share the plans for it. Highlighting that he has made promises for Finey’s development, the President said that one of the most important projects for the island is the harbor development work. Noting that MTCC has already started this work, the President said that he wants to make some changes to the project as requested by the residents. Therefore, he said that after reviewing these matters, as the project progresses, funds will be included in next year’s budget to make important changes. This includes modifying the outer seawall to allow vessels to dock and making some necessary changes to the channel. The President said that the harbor will be modified as per the residents’ wishes.
“So in the coming days, the Ministry and the contractor will work towards fulfilling the people’s hopes,” the President said.

The President also said that road construction in Finey is one of his presidential pledges, and that RDC is preparing to start the practical work. He said that it is important to have safe roads in a large island like Finey, and that this work will be started and completed very soon. Additionally, touching on plans for the sports sector, the President said that a complete and high-quality futsal ground will be developed in Finey from next year’s budget. He also noted that work on the Fitness and Recreation Center will progress this year.
Furthermore, he mentioned that an outdoor gym and a volleyball court will be developed and completed very soon.

The President said that since the people of Finey want to relocate the school to another location, funds will be included next year to plan for establishing classrooms and facilities. The current school in Finey lacks space for expansion, which is why the multipurpose hall was developed on a separate plot of land. Therefore, residents have expressed their desire to move the school to a location with more space. In addition, the President said that many other projects will be carried out in Finey, including a waste management center, a children’s park, upgrading of electricity, and increasing electrical capacity to provide power to newly allocated residential plots.
