During the President’s trip, contracts were awarded to three companies for developing a boat yard area in Ukulhas, constructing a sports complex, and proceeding with the new school building project. The President said that the boat yard would be developed to facilitate not only boat maintenance but also commercial use. He also mentioned that the school in Ukulhas would be fully equipped, and sports facilities would be completed.

“With the addition of the new building to increase capacity, the educational matters of this island, for students, teachers, and parents, will be greatly facilitated. The sports complex will be a significant relief for all sports enthusiasts. This building will be developed with indoor facilities for various sports, changing rooms, and spectator areas,” the President said.

In his speech, the President mentioned that the ongoing road construction project in Ukulhas would proceed according to the residents’ wishes. He stated that land reclamation in an island is done when space is needed for various purposes, including allocating plots and for economic needs. Addressing the land reclamation project in Ukulhas, he said that although the reclamation is nearly complete, the current Land Use Plan submitted by the council to the government doesn’t allocate the largest area for plot distribution. “The most important issue for the people of this island is solving the housing problem. When the government approves the Land Use Plan, we will amend it to allocate 250 plots and approve it. I will give permission to distribute these 250 plots next week. I hope the council will open applications for those who need plots.”

Additionally, the President announced that 50 housing units would be built in Ukulhas, and this project would also be carried out at a rapid pace. He stated that this would bring solutions to the housing issues. The President also mentioned that the government would construct more housing units in the future. Furthermore, he said that permission would be granted for any legally allowed activity proposed by the Ukulhas Council on the Galigili lagoon given to Ukulhas. He assured that the government would provide full support in this matter.

The President stated that important development work in healthcare, sports, and other sectors in Ukulhas would also progress.
