Brazil has decided not to include Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior in the squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Bolivia. This decision was made by Carlo Ancelotti, the current national coach of Brazil who previously coached Vinícius at Real Madrid. Ancelotti made this decision because Vinícius is unable to play in Brazil’s match against Chile on September 5th, as he has been suspended for that game. Ancelotti stated that there was no point in bringing Vinícius for the Bolivia match four days later. The reason being the long journey required from Spain to Brazil, and then to Bolivia.
“It’s better for him to rest in Spain. At this time, I will take this opportunity to test other players. Vini is the most important forward in this team. He’s a proven player. There’s no need to bring him unnecessarily to endure hardships during difficult times,” Ancelotti said. In the World Cup qualifiers, Brazil currently stands third in the South American region with 25 points from 16 matches.
