Questions have arisen about whether Alexander Isak, the forward looking to leave Newcastle United, will attend the English Footballers’ Association Award Night. English newspapers report that even with 24 hours to go before the event, Isak has not confirmed his attendance. However, he is nominated for the Player of the Season award for the past season. Isak is currently on strike. He wants to leave Newcastle and transfer to the English champions Liverpool. However, Newcastle has rejected Liverpool’s offer of 110 million dollars to buy him.
Newcastle’s coach Eddie Howe said that the power to resolve this issue lies in the player’s hands. However, wanting to change clubs, Isak has refused to play for Newcastle and even train with the team. Sweden’s national coach Janne Andersson has spoken in support of Isak in this matter. He said that one should not blame anyone without knowing the full picture of any situation. He also stated that Isak is a very professional person and that his actions would not fall outside professional standards.
English media outlets say that Liverpool will make a 150 million dollar offer to buy Isak before the transfer market closes at the end of this month. However, regardless of the price offered, all the power to release the player lies with Newcastle.
