Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has stated that the story of his son Abdullah Mahil Shaheem smuggling vape products strapped to his body is false.
The Minister made this statement in a post he shared on “X” in response to a news article by “Adhadhu News.”
The news article claimed that when Mahil arrived in the Maldives, Customs seized vape products he was trying to bring into the country, and that these products were found in Mahil’s luggage and on his body.
The article also stated that Mahil is a member of the Youth Advisory Board that advises President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, and that he also holds a position in the Foreign Ministry.
Refuting this news, Dr. Shaheem said it was very unfortunate to spread false stories claiming that vape products were smuggled strapped to the body. He also stated that Mahil is not employed at the Malaysian Embassy.
Minister Dr. Shaheem has also requested for the news to be corrected.
