Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has announced that the Maldives brand will once again be showcased at Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium during the new English Premier League season, which begins on August 15, 2025. According to VMC, this will expose the Maldives brand to over a million spectators, and the country will be advertised to 600 million viewers through live matches and digital platforms. In preparation for the new season, Visit Maldives has participated in Liverpool FC’s pre-season activities, resulting in a 400% increase in visitors to VMC’s website.

Under an agreement signed on March 13, 2025, the Maldives is the official tourist destination partner of Liverpool FC for 2025-2028. This agreement will promote the Maldives to over 200 million supporters. VMC stated that within 24 hours of launching this campaign, it reached over 400 million people through digital channels, describing it as unprecedented global exposure for the Maldives. The campaign also included Maldives branding on double-decker buses in London and taxis in Dubai.

VMC emphasized that this is not just a campaign targeted at tourists, but one that is connected to football, national pride, and patriotism. As part of this initiative, LFC fan zones have been introduced in the Maldives, and Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt participated in the Maldives Food Carnival held in Hulhumalé.
