MTCC Entrusted with Developing a National University Campus in Eydhafushi

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has been entrusted with developing a campus a campus of the Maldives National University in Eydhafushi. The project was handed over to MTCC during a ceremony where President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with the residents of Eydhafushi. The agreement was signed by MTCC’s Managing Director Ahmed Saudee, while Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam signed on behalf of the Maldives National University Maldives National University (MNU).

Under this project, a 6000 square feet two-story student accommodation block is planned for development. Additionally, a 3200 square feet two-story staff accommodation block and a 3000 square feet two-story administrative block are also set to be constructed. Furthermore, the project includes building a 4000 square feet two-story classroom block and a 4000 square feet two-story academic facilities block. This project has been contracted for 80.79 million Rufiyaa and is scheduled to be completed within 720 days.

Eydhafushi, with a population of 3500, is the capital of Baa Atoll. It is known for its educated youth population. Many of the island’s young people are employed in various government institutions and nearby resorts. The establishment of a Maldives National University campus on this island will bring significant educational benefits not only to Eydhafushi but to the entire Baa Atoll.
