The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. The MoU was signed by Abdullah Ali, Fund Manager, on behalf of the Maldives Zakat House, and Mohamed Yaniu Rameez, Managing Director, on behalf of Avas Enterprises.
According to the Maldives Zakat House, this agreement represents a significant step forward in expanding digital payment options for Zakat payers across the country. Under this partnership, the official collection of Zakat al-Fitr through Avas Enterprises’ online platforms will commence starting this year’s holy month of Ramadan.
Crucially, no additional service fees will be charged to the public when paying Zakat through Avas Enterprises’ platforms. Furthermore, Avas Enterprises will not levy any fees for transferring the collected Zakat funds to the Maldives Zakat House. The Zakat House emphasized that this arrangement is designed to ensure that the full amount contributed by donors reaches the eligible beneficiaries.
This initiative is part of an ongoing effort by the Zakat House to digitalize its services and provide seamless access to the public. The organization aims to leverage reliable digital platforms to establish a Zakat payment system that is convenient, transparent, and efficient.
The Zakat House noted that the collaboration with Avas Enterprises reflects its vision to modernize the Zakat collection and distribution system while upholding Shari’ah principles and maintaining public trust.
