A special online workshop has workshop has been arranged for those engaged in and interested in e-commerce and online business in the Maldives. Regarding this workshop, the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, stated that this is a workshop being conducted as part of the ongoing efforts with world-renowned e-commerce platforms. The workshop, specifically designed for those involved in and interested in e-commerce and online business in the Maldives, will be held online on the 16th of this month.
The Minister said that experts from Alibaba.com will be sharing information at this workshop. Minister Saeed stated that due to the work done by the ministry and Alibaba, opportunities will be created for Maldivians interested in online business to open seller accounts on the Alibaba.com platform, allowing them to sell their products online. Minister Saeed highlighted this as an opportunity arising from the efforts to fulfill President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to enable Maldivians to open seller accounts on the world’s most widely used e-commerce platforms and facilitate online business on these platforms.
Promoting small and medium enterprises in the Maldives and finding numerous opportunities for these businesses both domestically and internationally is a goal of the government. As such, efforts are ongoing to establish favorable conditions for conducting business using online platforms from abroad.
