Preparations are underway to resume the stalled 400 housing unit project in Hdh. Kulhudhuffushi, following the appointment of Rainbow Construction as the new contractor. According to the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the necessary materials and equipment for the project have already been mobilized to the island.

The project was previously halted with only 18 percent of the work completed after the initial contractor failed to meet the terms of the agreement, leading to the termination of their contract. This significant housing initiative involves the construction of 12 towers, each rising 11 stories, and featuring three-bedroom apartments. The total investment for this project is valued at MVR 443.9 million.

In addition to this ongoing project, the government has announced further plans to develop an additional 2,000 housing units in Kulhudhuffushi to address the housing needs of the community.
