Work has begun to establish a happiness index in the Maldives: Minister

Minister of Cities and Administrative Areas Management and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has stated that work has begun to establish a happiness index in the Maldives. He said that when determining the happiness index, many areas related to happiness will be considered. The Minister said this in a message given on the occasion of World Happiness Day, which is being celebrated today. The Minister said that under the work of establishing the Maldives’ happiness index, it will be examined whether Maldivians are satisfied with various sectors. This includes acting in accordance with Islam, prioritizing economic progress and productivity, the Minister said.

“As World Happiness Day is being celebrated, we have begun the work of establishing a happiness index in the Maldives. This includes prioritizing acting in accordance with Islam, economic progress and productivity, health, well-being, environment, sustainable development, and the use of technology and media, as well as reviving culture and traditions, establishing a safe and secure environment, and working with priority on social cohesion,” the Minister said.

The Minister said he hopes that appropriate indicators from various sectors will be prepared, and a way to measure the happiness of the Maldivian people will be seen in the near future.
