The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met) has issued a white alert for the northern atolls, forecasting winds to strengthen up to 45 mph and seas to become rough.
The Met has issued the white alert from Ha. Atoll to B. Atoll. It is effective from 09:15 to 15:15 today.
According to the white alert issued by the Met, winds are expected to blow at speeds between 19 and 24 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph in rain clouds, and seas are forecast to be rough.
The Met stated that some islands may experience tidal waves during high tide periods. They urge all parties in the north and central Maldives, especially those traveling by sea, to be cautious of the weather conditions.
