Western Nations Reiterate Grave Concerns Over the Humanitarian Situation in Gaza

Ten Western nations have expressed profound concern regarding the deteriorating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, highlighting that the situation is worsening day by day.

In a joint statement issued by Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, it was noted that the conditions in Gaza have significantly declined. As the people of Gaza face the winter season, the statement emphasized that approximately 1.3 million individuals are in urgent need of adequate shelter due to heavy rainfall and plummeting temperatures. The nations further highlighted that most healthcare facilities remain non-functional and continue to face severe difficulties in procuring essential medicines and medical supplies. Additionally, the statement reported that over 740,000 people are exposed to contaminated water due to flooding, while 1.6 million people in Gaza suffer from acute food insecurity.

The statement underscored that the Zionist occupation must allow non-governmental organizations to operate sustainably within Gaza under these dire circumstances. Furthermore, it called for the establishment of mechanisms to ensure that the vital work of the United Nations in Gaza can continue without interruption.

Moreover, the Western nations urged an end to the arbitrary restrictions imposed by the Zionist authorities on the entry of specific goods into Gaza. The items currently being obstructed include essential medical equipment, tents, and materials required for temporary shelters. The joint statement concluded by asserting that all border crossings must be fully opened to facilitate the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid into the territory.
