The Maldives Meteorological Service has announced that weather conditions will deteriorate across the Maldives starting Monday. The national weather service stated that due to the expected intensification of the southwest monsoon in the Maldives region, strong winds, rough seas, and rain are forecast for the next five days starting from Monday, October 9th. They predict that winds will generally strengthen to speeds between 13 and 23 miles per hour, causing rough seas.
Furthermore, the meteorological service warned that wind speeds could reach between 40 and 45 miles per hour in squalls, leading to very rough seas. They also noted that some islands may experience tidal waves during high tide periods.

Due to the expected intensification of the southwest monsoon in the Maldives region, the Maldives Meteorological Service urges all parties, especially seafarers, to be cautious of the weather conditions. They also appeal to the public to take safety precautions to protect themselves from potential dangers and minimize damage that may arise from heavy rain accompanied by strong winds.
