We will work to strengthen relations with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest – President

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that he will work to strengthen relations with Pakistan in areas of mutual interest. The President said this in a letter sent to Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, extending congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the Maldivian government and people on the occasion of ‘Pakistan Day’.

In separate letters sent to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, the President highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries and assured that he would work to further strengthen ties in areas of mutual interest. Additionally, the President wished the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan good health and happiness, and prayed for progress and prosperity for the people of Pakistan. ‘Pakistan Day’ is celebrated to commemorate the adoption of the first constitution and the declaration of Pakistan as an Islamic republic during its journey towards becoming an Islamic republic.
