Shadab Khan has responded to the criticism leveled against the current Pakistan national cricket team by former players.
Prominent former cricketers, including Salman Mirza, Shahid Afridi, and Mohammad Yousuf, have recently called for the exclusion of three key players from the squad. This list includes Shadab Khan himself, alongside Shaheen Shah Afridi and Babar Azam.
In response to these comments, Shadab stated that the former players are free to express their opinions as they see fit.
“They are legends and have the right to speak their minds. However, I have one thing to say: we achieved something in cricket that they could not. We defeated India in a World Cup, a feat they were unable to accomplish. Therefore, I do not see the benefit of such criticism,” Shadab Khan remarked.
Following their recent victory over Namibia in the final group match, Pakistan has progressed to the second round of the T20 World Cup, securing the second spot in the group behind India.
Shadab further noted that every match in the Super Eight stage is as crucial as a final, and the competition will become increasingly challenging from this point forward.
“No match in the Super Eight will be easy. We will have to work exceptionally hard to reach the final of the tournament,” Shadab Khan added.
The Super Eight stage of the tournament, currently being hosted in India and Sri Lanka, features the top two teams from each of the four initial groups.
