A warm welcome was extended at Velana International Airport to the one millionth tourist to visit the Maldives this year. This is the earliest a million tourists have visited the Maldives within a year. The one millionth tourist to visit the Maldives this year is Kajal Singh from India, who arrived yesterday on an IndiGo flight with her partner to spend their honeymoon at Malahini Kuda Bandos Resort. This is also her first visit to the Maldives.

The one millionth tourist was warmly welcomed yesterday in a joint effort by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation, and Maldives Airports Company Limited. In a special ceremony held at Velana International Airport, the Minister of Tourism and Environment, Tariq Ibrahim, participated and welcomed Kajal Singh.

Celebrating this achievement, Tourism Minister Tariq said that this milestone is a proud achievement for Maldivians, symbolizing the extensive work being done to promote Maldivian tourism to the outside world in a uniquely Maldivian way. Furthermore, the minister noted that reaching one million tourists so early in the year is clear evidence of how the Maldives’ natural beauty, charm, and Maldivian hospitality are recognized across different parts of the world. The minister acknowledged that this success was made possible by the hard work of the diligent workers in the tourism industry and expressed his gratitude to them.

As the one millionth tourist, Kajal Singh has been invited to participate in the “Five Million Trees” program, which was launched by the President on World Environment Day 2024.
