According to the PNC’s “The Greater Addu” manifesto, plans are underway to establish a national-level innovation centre named after Abdulla Afeef, alongside the Suvadive Museum in Addu City. The primary objective of this project is to preserve the rich history and heritage of Addu, while simultaneously creating opportunities for academic research and fostering creative thinking among the youth.
Furthermore, this vision encompasses the development of essential infrastructure to transform Addu City into a prominent commercial hub in the Indian Ocean. This includes the establishment of a business park to expand tourism and trade, a dedicated platform for the technology sector, and other key facilities. The government’s strategic goal is to maintain Addu’s unique identity while transforming the city into a well-connected economic hub that is both investor-friendly and seamlessly integrated through an efficient transportation network.
