Real Madrid’s new coach Xabi Alonso’s playing playing style has led to Brazilian forward Vinicius Junior expressing his dissatisfaction, believing that his role in the team has been diminished. According to Spanish newspapers, Vinicius, who played a crucial role in Real’s most recent Champions League victory, now has a different role in the team. One reason is the need to give equal roles to both forwards in the front line due to French captain Kylian Mbappé joining the team in the vacant season. As a result, Vinicius is not receiving as many balls as he used to before.

On the other hand, since Alonso took over as coach, Vinicius has been made to focus more on defense. During former coach Carlo Ancelotti’s time, he was the team’s primary forward. However, Xabi Alonso wants all players to participate in defense when needed. This is not what Vinicius wants. Due to his inability to perform this well, he has started on the bench in one of the three matches played so far this season. He has also not been given the opportunity to complete 90 minutes in any of the three matches. While he has become a player regularly substituted in every match, Mbappé is given the primary forward role in Alonso’s plan.

Vinicius is a player that Saudi Arabia is very keen to bring to their league. He is also a tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia. Because of this, the talks to renew his contract with Real Madrid have also slowed down. Vinicius wants a higher salary than Mbappé. However, Real wants to renew Vinicius’ contract at his current salary.
