
The Vice President of the Maldives, Honorable Hussein Mohamed Latheef, has departed for Spain to participate in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4). The conference is scheduled to take place from June 30 to July 3 in Seville, Spain. The Vice President is set to participate in the opening session and deliver a statement at the plenary meeting. Additionally, he is scheduled to take part in stakeholder forums where he will highlight the financial reform efforts undertaken by the Maldives.
In such platforms, the Vice President is expected to discuss sustainable debt management principles and ensuring inclusivity in financial systems. Furthermore, he will speak at side events organized at the initiative of the Maldives during the conference. The Vice President is accompanied by a delegation comprising senior government officials on this trip.
FFD4 is an important platform that brings together governments, international and regional organizations, financial and business institutions, businesses, civil society organizations, and UN bodies under one roof to engage in high-level discussions on financial reform. The Third International Conference on Financing for Development was held in 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
