
Following the detention of President Nicolas Maduro and the First Lady by U.S. military forces and their subsequent transfer to New York, Venezuela’s Supreme Court has directed Vice President Delcy Rodriguez to take temporary charge of the nation’s leadership.
As the United States prepares to bring charges of drug trafficking and terrorism against Maduro, President Donald Trump has stated that the U.S. will oversee the governance of Venezuela until a transitional government is established. Furthermore, Trump announced that U.S. companies would be tasked with the reconstruction and management of Venezuela’s oil infrastructure.
