Mr. Hussain Afeef, Chairman of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), has described Velana International Airport as a transformative experience for tourists. Speaking at the ITB Berlin fair, Mr. Afeef highlighted that while transportation challenges were previously a significant hurdle for the tourism sector, the modernization and development of the airport have now facilitated the provision of world-class services. Furthermore, he noted that the expansion of the domestic travel network and the establishment of airports across various regions mark a substantial advancement for Maldivian tourism. At this year’s ITB Berlin, numerous companies from the Maldivian tourism industry participated, actively promoting the Maldives as a premier global destination.
