Valencia Condemns Green Streets for Match-Fixing; Pledges to Escalate Issue to FIFA

Club Valencia has strongly condemned Club Green Streets’ decision to forfeit their Dhivehi Premier League match against New Radiant Sports Club, characterizing the move as a deliberate act of match-fixing intended to force Valencia’s relegation.

According to the league standings, Valencia’s survival in the relegation playoffs depended on New Radiant winning the match by a margin of at least four goals. However, under the current regulations, a forfeit results in a 2-0 defeat for the absent team. Valencia alleges that Green Streets deliberately chose not to show up to manipulate the final scoreline, thereby securing Valencia’s relegation through an artificial result.

Valencia has formally called upon the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) to investigate the matter and ensure justice is served. The club further stated its intention to escalate the case to both FIFA and the AFC for a formal inquiry. Meanwhile, it is expected that the FAM Disciplinary Committee will review the forfeiture and impose a fine on Club Green Streets for failing to fulfill the fixture.
