Although Israel has allowed some aid into Gaza in recent days, the UN Office for Human Rights says it falls far short of what is needed to alleviate the hunger of Gaza’s population. Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the UN Office for Human Rights, told reporters that Israel’s severe restrictions on aid entering Gaza mean that food supplies are nowhere near sufficient to meet the population’s needs. She stated that all of Gaza is facing famine, with thousands of residents enduring hunger due to Israel’s deliberate obstruction of aid.

Nearly two years after Israel began its aggressive attacks on Gaza, they continue to severely restrict the entry of aid supplies and food into Gaza. From March to mid-May this year, Israel completely blocked all routes, preventing any aid from entering the area. Consequently, no food, water, or humanitarian assistance could reach the enclave. This has resulted in Gaza almost entirely running out of food supplies.

As a result, the number of people dying from starvation in Gaza is increasing daily. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, as of August 17, 263 people have died due to hunger in Gaza, including 112 children.
